New Location for Economic Summit

DETROIT, Mich. (April 22, 2009) ­ The Detroit Economic Club(DEC), convener and organizer of The National Summit announces anew location for the first-of-its-kind gathering, to be held June15-17 in Detroit.

Economic pressures affecting business and policy conferencesaround the world this year have prompted the DEC to move TheNational Summit to the Detroit Marriott Renaissance Center from itsoriginally planned location, Ford Field. This will save costs andhelp to ensure The National Summit's success as a new nationalforum for business, government, academic, labor and other leadersto explore priorities for America's future.

³All aspects of The National Summit¹s originalvision will be accommodated within this new venue, including thesignificant dialogue we expect this event will encourage onAmerica¹s future,² said Beth Chappell, President and CEOof the DEC.

The new venue will accommodate approximately 1,700participants. Approximately 1,000 tickets have already been soldfor The National Summit, which is being co-chaired by William ClayFord Jr., Executive Chairman, Ford Motor Co. and Andrew Liveris,Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, The Dow Chemical Co.

Currently, more than 40 Speakers, from both the public andprivate sectors have agreed to address and take part in paneldiscussions at The National Summit. They include:
